Ge Microwave

The kitchen is usually the hardest part of the house to keep clean, especially when it comes to appliances, like microwaves and ovens.  For some reason, it’s so easy to forget about these cooking essentials messes inside can linger for a while, until we finally get the urge (or find the time) to clean them out.

So how do you clean your microwave? Here are several different suggestions and tips:

    1. Boil: To get crusty, hard to remove stains or debris off of the walls of your microwave, heat a cup of water until it boils. The water will let off moisture that will loosen the debris from the walls of your microwave, meaning less elbow grease for you. For most microwaves, 1 cup of water with a little bit of lemon will suffice; heat it on high for about 7-10 minutes or until it boils.

    2. Take everything out: To get down and dirty into your microwave, you’re going to have to remove every part of it, including the tray and support beneath it. Wash these items in the sink.

    3. Unplug and Clean: Get a rag and wipe every part of your microwave, from the walls to the ceiling and the floor. Don’t forget to unplug the machine!

    4. Baking Soda: If you have some stubborn stains that simply will not come off, try using some baking soda with some warm water to help clean the microwave out. Baking soda will help to remove hard to get-out stains as well, plus, it’s better for the environment than harsh chemicals.

    5. Clean the Outside: Now that you’ve done the hard bits, clean the outside of your microwave with a little bit of water and vinegar, or multi-surface cleaner. Once it’s sparking, inside and out, your job is done!

To keep your microwave looking lovely, cover your food with a microwave cover when using the machine, and do regular cleanings after each use. Keeping your microwave clean will keep it running efficiently for long, so you don’t need to have your local appliance repair company on speed-dial.
